2025 McCall Awards Night – Celebrating The Season
The Jericho Group Parramatta Referees came together for one of the biggest nights on our calendar, as more than 160 guests filled Le Montage for our 2025 McCall Awards Night. This year’s event was a true celebration of community, growth, and excellence as we wrapped up another outstanding season.
Set against the stunning waterfront backdrop, the evening featured a mix of entertainment, recognition, and reflection on a year of hard work both on and off the field.

A Night of Atmosphere, Celebration and Connection
Before the doors opened, our team was already deep in preparation with sound checks, lighting, final setup, and all the behind-the-scenes work that brings this night to life. By the time our members and guests arrived, the room was buzzing with excitement.
We were honoured to welcome an impressive group of guests who joined us in celebrating the 2025 season, including Donna Davis MP, State Member for Parramatta; Parramatta Leagues Club President Mark Jenkins and Director Stephen Bull; David and Jenny Succar from Jericho Group; Frank and Tina Micali from Franky & Co; Brent Wallace from Beyond Bank Australia and Bernard Biala from Biala Tax.
We were also privileged to host Greg McCallum, Geoff Widdon and Mark Holton representing the New South Wales Referees Association (NSWRLRA). In addition, Parramatta Junior League General Manager Adam Fairley, along with members of his Board and staff, were in attendance to celebrate and support our referees.
Members were treated to live music throughout the night, beginning with Natalie Carboni on the piano to open the evening, followed by Bruno Gerthard on the saxophone. Later in the night, Liz Testa joined the entertainment lineup, performing live as guests reflected on video highlights from around the grounds, showcasing our referees in action.

One of the most heartfelt moments of the night came when Bruno performed "Simply The Best" on the saxophone, dedicated to our much-loved Life Member John Dennis. The room paused earlier in the night for a moment of reflection as we honoured the sudden passing of Life Member Peter Teale.
Guests were also entertained by the legendary magician Xavier Crow, who captivated the room with a live stage performance that left everyone amazed. The evening featured a three-course, five-star meal, interviews conducted by SportsShed TV, and a run of awards that celebrated excellence across the Association.

Members received a range of special gifts including mints, a custom coin for the coin toss, a small Parra Refs branded zipper bag for communication wires, a whistle, and other game day essentials.

A highlight of the night was the presentation of the Life Membership Jacket to Life Member #73 Michael Karam, marking a proud moment for both Michael and the Association.

Members were then treated to a live Q&A session featuring former NRL referee Ben Cummins, hosted by current NRL referee Zbigniew Przeklasa-Adamski. Their insights, humour, and stories added depth and inspiration to the night.

The McCall Awards Night brought together referees, coaches, life members, parents, officials, and supporters to recognise the achievements of our Association and celebrate the people who uphold the PARRA values every single week.
Honouring Our Referees, Coaches and Volunteers
The awards portion of the evening highlighted outstanding contributions across all levels of the Association. From first-year referees to seasoned leaders, each award reflected the dedication, resilience, and professionalism that define the Jericho Group Parramatta Referees.
