The biggest weekend of the Parramatta Junior Rugby League season has arrived as our match officials prepare to head to the James Hardie Centre of Excellence in Kellyville on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September for the 2026 Junior Grand Finals across the U13 to U16 age groups.
To kick off Grand Final week, our members, family, and supporters gathered on Tuesday 1st September at the prestigious NSWRL Centre of Excellence for one of the most anticipated events on our calendar, the Grand Final Announcements. The evening marks the culmination of a full season's worth of dedication, hard work, and commitment as our match officials eagerly await to hear if their name is called for a Grand Final appointment.
The Grand Final Announcements event was attended by 100 guests, including our referees, coaches, supportive parents, and valued sponsors Stephen Bull from the Parramatta Leagues Club as well as David Succar and members of his team from Jericho Group, and leading NRL Referee, Ash Klein.
The evening commenced with dinner served in the NSWRL COE Brad Fittler Lounge, offering everyone a chance to connect and celebrate the season's achievements. Following dinner, guests were treated to an insightful Q&A session with Ash Klein. Focusing on the high-pressure environment of Grand Finals, Ash shared invaluable perspectives on the mindset required to officiate deciders and spoke about how Grand Final appointments aren’t always necessarily a reflection on the overall success of an official's season.
Reflecting on the milestone occasion, Parramatta Referees Chairperson Mat Picone shared his pride in the Association's achievements this year. "Grand Final weekend is truly the best time of the year for our Association. We are immensely proud of all our members and their incredible efforts throughout the season. I'm particularly proud of the high number of new members we have officiating this weekend. We know our members will perform at their absolute best and really enjoy the occasion."
