Patrick Mackey Joins the 300 Club

It’s a milestone few reach — and one that truly deserves to be celebrated.

We proudly recognise Patrick Mackey on reaching 300 games in the NSWRL High Performance squad — an extraordinary achievement that reflects years of commitment, excellence, and leadership in officiating at the highest level in the state.

Graded in 2016 as official #994, Pat has forged a remarkable path through the refereeing ranks, becoming a highly respected and admired member of both the High Performance group and the Parramatta Referees Association.

There’s something poetic about the way life works sometimes.

When Pat Mackey took the field for his 300th High Performance game, it wasn’t just any ground — it was Crestwood Oval. A venue rich in personal history, Crestwood was where Pat officiated countless matches during his early years with Parramatta Referees.

To bring up such a significant milestone at a place so connected to the beginning of his refereeing journey is a full-circle moment worth celebrating. It’s a powerful reminder of how far dedication and persistence can take you — from grassroots games to the highest levels of officiating.

A Leader On and Off the Field

Known for his consistency, calmness, and solid performances, Pat has not only officiated at the highest levels in the state but has also been instrumental behind the scenes. He served as the Assistant Executive Officer of the Association over a number of years, playing a critical role in mentoring and developing the next generation of referees. His knowledge, experience, and approachable nature have left a lasting impact on our members.

This award, determined by the Coaching and Development Committee, recognises all-round growth in refereeing. It’s a highly sought-after honour, often awarded to individuals on their way to higher appointments — and Pat was no exception.
